Wholesale Trade Increases| News by Staff ReporterWholesale trade sales were seen to increase 13% y/y Wholesale trade sales for the three months ended August 2011 increased 13% year-on-year, according to official data released last week by Stats SA.“Wholesale trade sales, at current prices, for the three months ended August 2011 increased by 13,0% compared with the three months ended August 2010,” said Stats SA. The firm said the main contributions to the year-on-year increase of 13,0% were dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products, dealers in other household goods except precious stones and dealers in agricultural raw materials and livestock. “Wholesale trade sales, at current prices, for August 2011 increased by 15,7% compared with August 2010, while sales for the corresponding period in 2010 increased by 13,0%,” said Stats SA. At constant 2000 prices, wholesale trade sales for the three months ended August 2011 was seen to increase by 6,2% compared with the three months ended August 2010. “Sales for the same period in 2010 increased by 4,1%,” added the statistics firm.
