U.S. Equities Markets Gain on Jobs Data| International News by Staff Reporter
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 14539.10 yesterday as equity markets continued their climb on more positive U.S. jobs data and a 0.4 percent increase in industrial production for February.
Consumer sentiment also showed an improvement.
The Dow Jones has gained 11% since the beginning of the year and more than 100% since March 2009, when it fell to a 12-year low.
Banks improved with the results of the recent Fed stress tests being perceived as positive by investors, except for JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs whose shares slipped around 2% on being asked to submit new capital plans to regulators.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also recorded gains.
