Three-Quarters Booked For 2010 World Cup

| News by Staff Reporter

With just over 100 days to go until the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Match, the official accommodation service provider for FIFA, has reported that 73% of their rooms have already been reserved.

Match made deals with hotels across South Africa to market 48 000 rooms during the World Cup, which takes place from the 11th of June until the 11th of July.

South Africa has spent R33 billion on the event and hopes to welcome 450 000 foreign visitors, but FIFA has recently said that it is likely that the actual number of arrivals will be lower as it becomes a financial challenge for some fans to attend when the event is hosted far away from Europe.

Some large hotel chains, like Hyatt, and many bed and breakfasts decided not to work with Match as they did not want to set aside large numbers of rooms months before the event.
