The Crystal Flower| by Matt WoodA new building resembling a crystal flower is currently under construction in Dubai The Burj Al Alam, designed to resemble a crystal flower, is currently under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.Once complete this 108-storey building will join the ranks of Tallest Buildings in the World, standing 510-metres tall – just one metre taller than Tapei 101 in Tawian – and becoming the second tallest building in the world. The Burj Al Alam, translated to English as “World Tower”, will consist of 74 floors of office space and a retail area at the base. The top 27 floors will be used for high-end hotel and serviced apartments, while the very top of the building will contain a luxury 5-star hotel section containing the highest hotel rooms in the world. This stunning building being built by the Fortune Group, who are also running several others projects in Dubai, also incorporates a six-storey crown which is set to contain a Turkish bath (the Turkish variant of a steam bath), sky garden and other club facilities. Although ground breaking began in 2006 and estimations were for reaching completion in 2010, delays in payments from investors etc. have slowed the project somewhat. It is now expected to reach completion in 2012. Source: www.bizpremises.co.za |
