September CPI at 5,7%

Stats SA today (Wednesday 19 October) said the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2011 was 5,7%.“The headline inflation rate in September 2011 (i.e. the Consumer Price Index for all urban areas in September 2011 compared with that at September 2010) was 5,7%,” said the statistics firm.
It said the rate of 5,7% in September was 0,4 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of 5,3% in August 2011.
“From August 2011 to September 2011 the Consumer Price Index for all urban increased by 0,4%.”
