Public Works Under Adminstration

| News by Staff Reporter

The department is unable to walk on its own, according to the public works minister

According to Public Works Minster Thulas Nxesi the Department of Public Works is “technically under administration”.

“So, technically speaking we are already under administration because we are calling for help from different departments to work with us until we are able to walk on our own”, he said.

This came to light during a meeting in parliament with the portfolio committee on public works, according to SABC radio. Nxesi was speaking about the remedial actions the department was taking after receiving a disclaimer from the auditor general for the 2010/11 financial year.

A disclaimer from the auditor general means there was not enough information for the AG to form an opinion on current state of the department’s finances.
