Price of Petrol to Come Down| News by Staff Reporter
There will be a “substantial decrease” in the price of petrol
South African motorists should see a “substantial decrease” in the price of petrol effective from Wednesday 6 June, according to Energy Minister Dipuo Peters.
“We are currently witnessing a [downward] swing in the crude oil price and I’m pleased to announce that next month motorists will benefit from a substantial decrease in fuel prices in time for the June holiday driving season,” said Peters.
While Peters did not comment on actual figures for the decrease it is expected that South Africans will see a drop of around 50c per litre.
According to the daily over recovery statistics, of which there is only one day left in which these figures could be affected, the over recovery on 95-grade petrol is 56.552c and the over recovery on 93-grade is 62c.
The over recovery for diesel at May 30 was 26c.
This drop in the price of petrol is set to be the biggest decrease in two years.
