PPI Up Slightly in March

The Producer Price Index (PPI) in March 2011 was +7,3 percent according to statistics firm Stats SA.The PPI for domestic output showed “an annual rate of change of +7,3 percent in March 2011 (i.e. the PPI in March 2011 compared with March 2010),” said Stats SA.
The annual rate of +7,3 percent is 0,6 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of +6,7 percent in February 2011, according to official data.
From February 2011 to March 2011 Stats SA said there was a month-on-month increase in domestic output of 0,9 percent.
