Liquidations Decrease in 2010| News by Staff ReporterStatistics SA said the total number of liquidations and insolvencies have both decreased from last year According to data released by statistics firm Stats SA a decrease of 1,4 percent was recorded in the total number of liquidations in the first seven months of this year compared with the first seven months of last year.Stats SA said the total number of liquidations in the first seven months of 2010 decreased from 2 379 to 2 346, while a decrease of 34,3 percent (from 428 to 281) was noted in the total number of liquidations for July 2010 compared with July 2009. Stats SA added that the total number of insolvencies for the first six months of 2010 decreased by 27,8 percent compared with the first six months of last year. The total number of insolvencies decreased from 2 643 to 1 909 when comparing the first half of 2010 with that of 2009, while the estimated number of insolvencies for June 2010 decreased by 37,1 percent (from 558 to 351) when compared with June 2009.
