SA Traveller Numbers Increase

The South African Department of Home Affairs last week said it recorded 3.7-million travellers (including both arrivals and departures) during December.

Insolvencies Drop

By more than 30% in the first 11 months of 2011


Insolvencies in South Africa in the first eleven months of 2011 were 30,2% lower than the previous year, dropping from 3 703 to 2 584, according to Stats SA.

“A year-on-year decrease of 17,3% (from 335 to 277) was estimated for November 2011,” the firm added.

Liquidations

For December 2011Stats SA said a decrease of 0,6% (from 325 to 323) was recorded in the number of liquidations compared with December 2010.

“The number of liquidations for the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 2,1% (from 1 062 to 1 084) year-on-year,” added Stats SA.
