Green Building Conference Announced| News by Matthew Wood The Green Building Conference and Exhibition 2010 will be hosted in Johannesburg at the Gallagher estate on the 29th and 30th of April, where leaders from global markets will meet national experts to discuss various developments in ‘green’ building. The aim of the conference is to find sustainable yet practical solutions to be applied to projects and to find the balance between functionality and economically friendly building techniques.Last year saw in excess of 700 industry professionals and more than 100 exhibition stands at the conference held in Sandton, and statistically this professional community is represented more strongly at the Green Building Conference than at any other industry professional event in South Africa. A heightened demand for residential green construction, new and unprecedented initiatives from the government, and great improvements in the number and range of sustainable materials available to designers are three of the key driving forces for Green Building in South Africa. The government has conformed to global ideals that are on par with international standards with regard to Green Building and has committed itself by initiating the process of legislation. Prof M N Fisch, the director of IGS - Institute of Building Services and Energy Design at the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany, will speak at the conference, as will Dr Ken Yeang from Malaysia who is best known for the creation of the ‘bioclimatic’ skyscraper. The German chemical company BASF as well as Dulux Trade have been confirmed as sponsors for the event which will be open from 09h00 to 17h00 daily. Source: www.bizpremises.co.za |
