Greece has shot down a proposal that it surrender its budget control
Greece on Sunday turned down a German proposal that it surrender control of its budget to a “budget commissioner” with veto powers.
This is according to Business Day, who said German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler yesterday (Sunday) became the first German cabinet member to openly endorse such a proposal.
Greece, however, who is currently discussing a further 130-billion euro package, has dismissed the idea of relinquishing control of its budget.
“The standoff between the two countries could prolong the search for a deal to save troubled euro-zone economies that are threatening to drag the global economy down with them,” said Business Day
