Gauteng E-Tolling Postponed| News by Staff ReporterA decision which has been hailed a ‘significant victory’ The decision to postpone the introduction of e-tolling on Gauteng freeways has been hailed a “significant victory” for millions of residents, according to Cosatu.Among those satisfied with the decision were also transport workers, the Democratic Alliance (DA) and AfriForum. Patrick Craven, spokesperson for Cosatu, said the postponement of the decision to introduce e-tolling to Gauteng’s roads was a “significant victory” for millions of residents who had opposed the scheme from day one. Mamokgethi Rea Molopyane, spokesperson for Satawu (South African Transport and Allied Workers Union), said the decision was a victory for the poor and working class. The decision to postpone the introduction of e-tolling was announced by Sanral (South African National Roads Agency Limited) on Friday. Sanral chairman Tembakazi Mnyaka said a decision to investigate further and subsequently compile a report which would be presented to the Cabinet had been made at Thursday’s meeting.
