CPI Rises in June

Statistics SA said the headline inflation rate in June 2011 was 5,0%


The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2011 rose to 5,0 percent – slightly higher than the corresponding rate of inflation in May 2011.

According to the latest data released by Stats SA the official inflation rate in June 2011 (i.e. the percentage change in the CPI for all urban areas in June 2011 compared with that in June 2010) was 5,0 percent.

“This rate was 0,4 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of 4,6 percent in May 2011,” said the statistics firm.
