Cape Town Most Creative City by 2014

Cape Town is vying for the title of World Design Capital, and may be voted the most creative city in the world by 2014.The title of World Capital Design is awarded every two years to a city that encompasses design for social, cultural and economic development.
The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design is a worldwide, non-profit organisation that celebrates the merits of design, and has been awarding the title since its establishment in 1957.
The council, comprising more than 150 members in 50 countries, represents over 150 000 designers in many different fields.
Cape Town already has certain events that will positively contribute to the city’s creative trademark, like the Design Indaba, the Canal Walk Bridal Fair and the Cape Town Jazz Festival, to name but a few.
Some of the other cities competing for the title in 2014 will be found in countries like Japan, China, Brazil and Spain.
Projects such as Cape Town Activa, Bandwidth Barn and the Creative Cape Town project all making further contributions to the creative nature of the city.
