But Proteas enter third day with victory in sight

The Proteas will begin their third day at Newlands with victory in sight after a second day that can only be called bizarre.

South Africa enter the third day of the Test needing 155 runs to win with captain Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla to take to the crease first, but fresh in the players’ minds will be yesterday’s shocking performance that saw 23 wickets fall and both teams bowled out for under 100.

South Africa was dismissed for 96 runs after the first innings after bowling out Australia for 284, and in a surprise turn of events managed to bowl out the Aussies in their second innings for a mere 47 runs.

The Proteas ended the day on 81/1 and will this morning begin the last day of play.
