Bafana Hold On Against Morocco| Sports by Staff Reporter
South Africa held Morocco to a 2:2 draw in their African Cup of Nations match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday.
The match was a tense affair with Morocco twice going into the lead, only to have their hopes dashed by a Bafana equaliser each time, the last by defender Siyabonga Sangweni in the 86th minute of the game.
In the other Group A match played in Port Elizabeth, the tiny island nation of Cape Verde, playing in their first African Cup of Nations, beat Angola 2-1 to knock them out of the competition.
The draw means South Africa will top Group A with 5 points going into the quarter-finals, along with Cape Verde, also on 5 points, but with a lower goal average.
South Africa will now face Mali in their quarter-final game. Kickoff is at 20h:30 on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Cape Verde will take on Ghana in the other match of the day.
