Montague Gardens

Montague Gardens is one of Cape Town's most modern, sought after, and well-planned industrial areas. Situated 10 minutes from Cape Town harbour and airport and easily accessible from most areas of the Peninsula through the road and rail network. It is also in close proximity to the N1 and N7 National roads and the M5.

Montague Gardens is the gateway to the rapid urban and economic growth of the West Coast region. This essential position has lead to the major retail chains such as Woolworths, Spar and Nu Clicks locating their central distribution centres in this area for convenient distribution to their many outlets throughout the region.

Montague Gardens is a relatively modern industrial suburb and the majority of its buildings are suited to modern industrial requirements. The area is well serviced by banks, restaurants, pubs and cafes, and the institution of cash and carry operations such as Makro, Trade Centre and other smaller operators in the area has lead to the growth of warehouse retail trade on Montague Drive, Montague Garden's main activity backbone. Vehicle services companies doing exhausts, tyres, shocks and brake and clutch are also prevalent.

There are several larger manufacturing operations and many warehouses in the network of roadways back from the main Montague Drive. Many of these roads are quaintly named, with names such as Jig Road, Alternator Road, Drill Avenue, and Marconi Road.

Montague Gardens has also become a hotspot for Do It Yourself (DIY) enthusiasts, with outlets such as Penny Pinchers, and Ital Tile, operating in the area. Montague Gardens is a rather unique industrial area in that it is surrounded and patronised by numerous residential and commercial areas which are in close proximity to the local industrial and retail activity, such as Milnerton, Tableview, Edgemead, Plattekloof Glen and Bothasig. These mostly residential areas range from upmarket golf estates to middle and lower income areas.

In terms of commercial areas, Montague Gardens is serviced by both Century City and the Milnerton CBD. These areas provide Montague Gardens with fantastic banking, shopping, postal and entertainment facilities. Africa's largest shopping mall, known as Canal Walk, is situated just a few kilometres from Montague Gardens.
