Midrand is an area located in the northern part of Johannesburg, South Africa, roughly half way between the Witwaterstrand and Pretoria. In the late 1990's Midrand was incorporated into the City of Johannesburg's Metropolitan Municipality and it now forms part of Region A of Johannesburg's administrative region plan.

Midrand was built entirely around the N1 Highway, and although Midrand in longer an independent town its name is still commonly used to refer to the suburbs around the Midrand (also known as the Ben Schoeman) section of the highway.

The suburbs of Midrand include Carlswald, Crowthorne, Glen Austin, Halfway House, Halfway Gardens, Kyalami and Vorna Valley, and the area is also identified as one of Johannesburg's eight tourism nodes, with attractions in the area like the Glen Austin Bird Sanctuary, the Kyalami Racing Circuit and the Gallagher Estate - one of South Africa's largest conference and exhibition facilities.

In the last decade Midrand has seen an influx of business to the area, taking advantage of the excellent highway links and its close proximity to the economic centre of the Gauteng Province, and has subsequently seen a great deal of growth and modernisation, especially in the various large-scale industries including textiles and motor vehicles.
